8 Signs Your Business Website Is Outdated

Your website is your business’ virtual display window.

As shops in the real world upgrade and refresh their store front every so often, you should consider doing so if there are signs your virtual store front needs a bit of refreshing (or a whole new overhaul)

Here are the top 8 signs your websites needs an update:

1. The information you have on your website is not accurate

If this is the case, you need to update all the inaccurate and missing information as soon as possible. First priority should be to update any missing or incorrect contact information.

Make sure to update product and service information

2. Your website does not display or is not compatible with mobile devices

Over 50% of Internet traffic nowadays comes from mobile devices. In some market it is as high as 80%.

If your website is not mobile friendly, people will find it hard to read and navigate in the website and will just leave and look for a more friendly website that offers the products or services that you do.

Worst case is if your website does not even display on mobile devices (this happens with websites programmed with Adobe flash) – In this case, it’s just like you’ve closed shop!

3. Your website looks dated.

Design standards have changed in the last few years, tools have changed, and above all, bandwidth now enabled the quick display of high resolution images (on Ipads and Macbooks you have the retina display that requires images with double the resolution of the regular website image)

If your site was designed 3 or more years ago, and has low resolution images, it is very likely it looks a bit dated.

4. No social sharing buttons

Social networks are a big thing nowadays. They have become the city square and all the news go through them and can be amplified by them.

If your content (blog posts, images, news etc’) cannot be shared, you are losing your reach.

5. No contact details or call to action available on every page

People are looking for a solution to a problem. And in our times, they are looking for the quickest solution.

If your contact information is hidden in one of the menu tabs, or at the bottom of your page in little fonts, you are losing prospects and customers.

6. You need a webmaster to update your website’s content for you

If you need your webmaster’s help every time you want to update information on your website, that means you don’t update it enough!

A Content Management System (CMS) makes it easy to add text, images, videos and any other content to your website.

7. Your website was hacked and changed by anonymous people/hackers

If your site have been hacked into, that means your site’s security is not good enough and that can actually hurt visitors (in case hackers have installed malicious code on your website – it happened to big and small companies).

Although never 100% sure, you need to make sure your website is well protected.

8. You are not building an email list and a list of your clients’ information with your website.

If you do not have a way to get your website visitors’ email address and/or other information such as addresses and phone numbers than you are just leaving a lot of money on the table.
